Probiotics and Microbials are Your Pets Health and Happiness Pill

Stress, there is that word that seems to permeate the existence of all mankind and is very much prevalent in the animal kingdom as well. The speed of our daily existance and the responsibilities we each carry increases the amount of stress that we have to constantly endure. Does it not make sense that our pets are under a similar amount of stress in their lives in having to cope with us and their life regimen. Probiotics and microbials have become very popular for humans in an effort to ease the stress we humans have to deal with on a consistent basis and you can take it to the bank that your pets will enjoy the same benefits.

Probiotics and microbials are, indeed, your pets health and happiness pill.

This writing is going to provide food for thought and to some degree, explain how microbials and probiotics will assist your pets so that the stress that we humans endure does affect our pets and how we, as care givers, can help them cope with the stress that they drain from us and pay them back for the love and happiness that they give to us.

In previous writings, I have discussed how probiotics and microbials were originally researched around the beginning of the 19th century by a professor in Russia for animals and their ability to thrive and produce more meat, milk and to be healthier in the process. Well, about 20 years ago, the benefits that were good for the animals have been found to be very much beneficial to people and the human probiotic industry was born. In recents years, our living circumstances have changed and the research of microbials and probiotics have rediscovered the benefits of providing natural products that enable animals to absorb all the vital nutrients for health and happiness and enzymes to stimulate their immunities systems are just as important to animals as it is to humans and , to state the obvious, just as beneficial.

OK. Why are our animals and pets under stress? Well does it not follow that the more stressful the human life style gets, then the pets stress level in life will ramp up as well. Looking at the picture from the other side, the side of your pet, their responsibility in life is to take care of you and your family, protect you, let you know when there are dangers or even just someone walking on their street or by their car and to drain the stress that we humans have accumulated in our time away from them. To them it does not matter what happened to you that day, it is their responsibility to come to you, ease your nerves, calm your feelings and make you feel good and to relax your mind. We can all agree without exception, that we have all experienced this in our pets.

Let's now talk about the stress that is present in our pets lives today which is increasing just as ours is. In the process of domestication, things have become very different for our pets. We take them with us when we choose to. They travel with us on holidays, in cars, on planes and numerous other forms of transportation. We have changed their type of food. Just check their mouths and you will find teeth that were meant to rip meat apart and we are mostly feeding kibble. Most animals with fangs are carnivores not herbivores, however, having said that, the kibble does provide the proper levels of nutrients, fat and protein that our pets require on a daily basis. Probiotics and microbials will help the animal absorb these vital nutrients provided in the food assuming a quality food is being provided. What is being put into dog food, in some instances, is a horrible story and is a subject worth it's own time.

Our pets are subject to training and various levels of obedience so that they are socially acceptable in our human lives. We teach them tricks for our entertainment and we take them to shows to compare them one agaist another to ultimately declare them Champions in their breed to quote “Better the breed” and appease our competitive nature. On top of all the things just mentioned, they have their self imposed responsibility of taking care of the family and their home that they ultimately end up in having had no say in the matter. These things do provide stress on our pets along with many others which impairs the digestive tract and reduces the ability to absorb the vital nutrients needed for them to have health and happiness.

At the risk of repeating myself, I am now going to explain how probiotics and microbials work and how these natural sources of good bacteria and immunity systems stimulants work. Animals, by virtue of where they are in the chain of living things on this earth, are constantly exposing themselves to, I will use the term germs, “germs” in their every day life. They just do what they do with what God gave them. They are constantly having to fight against the “germs” that they are confronted with day after day. Very quickly, what microbials and probiotics do is maintain the digestive tract by providing a supply of good bacteria and stimulants for the immunity systems so that most of the vital nutrients in the food we are providing for them can be absorbed and not excreted without providing any benefit to your pet at all.

As care givers to our pets, it seems logical to me that we learn as much as we can to understand the problems that our pets are experiencing and, maybe more importantly, do what we can to provide our pets with the ability to cope with the stress of their lives taking care of us and the huge responsibility that it provides for them. Just think about that!

I will say this again that I feel that Fastrack microbial and probiotic products are the best on the market and are readily available where ever you and your pet live. The products are properly tested, packaged and what is printed on the label is not only true but the minimum provided in the jar.

Microbials or Probiotics - A Smashing Tip for Dog and Cat Lovers

It just makes so much sense to do your due diligence when choosing your pets source of nourishment, their food, for the rest of their lives. A factor has been proven over and over again and it is not all pet foods are equal. Some of the products are manufactured to make money with little or no concern for the animals to which the product will be fed. But an extremely important fact gets over looked most of the time. Is your pet's lower digestive tract in the best condition to absorb the goodness and vital nutrients from what ever food you choose for your pet, no matter which one it is?

There are so many factors that affect your pet's ability to digest and absorb the goodness in the food during your pet's life. Their health, of course, their stress level, have they been on antibiotics, what other animals are they in contact with, as all our pets do like to sniff, their hereditary factors and even the health of their mother when the puppies were born are all factors that will affect the ability to absorb the goodness and vital nutrients in the digestive tract. This problem, as stated in the list of items above, can start as early as your pet's date of birth and continues throughout their lives and addressing them will help yor pet have a happy, healthy life with more energy.

My passions are travelling and German Shepherd dogs. Breeding and showing German Shepherds has been a hobby of mine for many years and as some of the dog fancy know, this breed has had it`s share of problems over the years but then again, which breed hasn`t had some difficulties.

As pet owners, breeders and exhibitors and the people who benefit from our pet`s loyalty, devotion and their ability to please us when all else has failed, it is our responsibility to do whatever we can do to provide our pets with what they cannot provide for themselves and that is a healthy digestive tract which is able to give them the vital nourishment from the food that is being fed to them by their owners.

It seems like a fair enough bargain but our pets will continue to give us their love and devotion whether we give back to them or not. Our pets don`t ask for bargains.

Without getting too scientific, the solution to our pet`s dilemma is called microbials or probiotics, a group of natural products assembled to help your pets, from birth to passing, maintain a healthy digestive tract which is capable of absorbing as much vital nutrients as that animal is capable of absorbing to ensure a happy and vitally healthy life.

But your due diligence does not end with choosing your pet`s food. Numerous independent studies have proven that many of the so called animal microbials, canine, feline and others, do not contain what they say the product contains on the label and does not do what the product says it will do in it`s advertising.

So, in summary, there is a product that can assist your pet greatly in it`s absorption of the vital nutrients in the food that you feed to your pets on a daily basis and thus, help them to a happier and healthier life. They are called microbials or probiotics, these words refer to the same products. But ``caveat emptor`` or buyer beware! The same problem that is present in the manufacture of pet food exists in the manufacture of microbials and probiotics. All these products are not as they are stated to be and have been proven to be as such by independent study. I will leave you with one final word `FASTRACK`.

Probiotics and Microbials – An Explanation of Benefits for Dogs and Cats

Sometimes, a discussion about probiotics and microbials can become very scientific and hard to read not to mention understand. This is, however, an attempt to explain the benefits of probiotics and microbials for cats and dogs in a manner that can be easily understood. There may be some latin names of bacteria which are even difficult to pronounce but these terms are sometimes necessary. Please bear with me.

This whole field of probiotics and microbials was brought to the attention of the scentific world by a Russian biologist by the name of Eli Metchnikoff just after the turn of the century of 1900 when he found that certain Bulgarian and Russian citizens were living longer as a result of their eating large amounts of fermented milk products. It has, also, been noted over the years that animals that have been fed good, natural yeast in their diets were healthier than those which were not given this item.

So, as a result of these findings, scientists felt that by combining the benefits of the lactic-acid producing bacteria from the fermented milk products and the healthier condition of the animals that were fed food that contained good yeast, maybe this combination could be an extremely beneficial product for animals.

Well guess what. This product of the combination of these two products mentioned earlier in this writing did come to the attention of the general public a couple of decades or so ago but not for animals. Human beings were the first benefactors of this product. We the people have been reading about and in fact, feeling the beneficial effects of probiotics and microbials, as they are called now, for quite some time. Some people cannot enjoy a healthy, happy life without taking them.

OK. So much for a little bit of the history of probiotics and microbials.

Now let's discuss the benefits of this fantastic product. In our digestive tract and the digestive tract of all our pets, be they show dogs or a cuddly pussy cat, are good bacteria and bad bacteria. The pathogenic or bad bacteria grows three times as fast as the good bacteria does.

If there is nothing done to control the levels of bad bacteria, it just makes sense that the bad bacteria will take over and create poor levels of health, in the best case scenario to serious diseases in our dogs and cats in the more dire situations.

How will probiotics and microbials help our dogs and cats on a long term basis? The first benefit that is apparent is that microbials and probiotics maintain the digestive tract itself so that the vital nutrients from the good food that is being fed to our pets can be absorbed to oppose the growth of bad bacteria and in that way fight the pathogenic bacteria on arrival.

Secondly, lactic acid producing bacteria, the one used in the good probiotics and microbial products, secretes hydrogen peroxide that creates a condition that is unfavorable to bad bacteria. It has been documented that lactic acid producing bacteria fight the likes of E. Coli, Samonella, Staphlococcus aureus and clostridium perfringens. This will help to control diarrhea-causing bacteria in new born and young animals. Also, it has been shown that good bacteria ie lactic acid producing bacteria, has long term benficial effects in ensuring higher immunity levels against pathogenic bacteria thus helping to restrict their growth in the digestive tract.

Thirdly, all puppies and kittens are born with no bacteria, good or bad, in their digestive tracts. Since, as stated previously, bad bacteria grows 3 times as fast as good bacteria, does it not make sense to help these tiny, helpless creatures to fight off the bad influences of the rapid growth of bad bacteria and help them get started with a better chance of survival by providing microbials at the time of birth.

Following that line, as our pets become more mature, it makes sense to me that maintaining the digestive tract of our older pets will help in vital nutrient absorption to ensure health and vitality and may help figth againt things like bloat and arthritis.

Our pets, especially dogs and cat, are constantly evolving throughout their short lives. It starts with the birth and growth stages, then on to the maturity stage which brings them to the prime of their lives which is all too short. They, then, begin to show their age and if we are lucky, we have them until they are about 10 years old. Through every stage, they require the ability to absorb every bit of vital nutrients that we are feeding them so that they can advance to the next stage in a happy and healthy fashion. Only we can do that for them for they cannot do it for themselves.

A question that pops into ones mind is that if human beings have been using probiotics and microbials for decades, why is there such a varience in products, quality of products as well as trepidation regarding probiotics and microbials being directly fed to our pets? Well the answer is simply this. The products that are used for human consumption are tested and controlled by the governments of the countries. There is no concern about what can go wrong. However, even with these checks and balances, the system has had it's foibles.

Since our pets are only animals not in the food chain, there have been no systems put in place to ensure the testing of content and quality of product. It is certainly, as I have stated in another article, “caveat emptor', buyer beware. It is up to us, as responsible care givers, to ensure our pet dogs and kitties are getting what is said to be in the jar as stated on the label. How can that be done? That is a topic for another time. But I will leave you with one final word of help, Fastrack!

Our dogs and cats have no choice over the homes that they are born or placed into. We as responsible care givers, need to be educated into how we can do it better and how we can provide our pets with tail-wagging and purring lives.
